RAYS High Temperature Ball Valve (Metal Seated)

Introduction:

Heating to boiling points, catalytic and hydro-treatments are some of the refining processes necessary to separate crude oil into storable fractions like marketable oils and condensate; most of these processes at high temperature, from 121°C to 1100°C (249,8°C to 2012°F), the High Temperature Ball Valve Metal Seated will be a better solution.

RAYS can provide the metal seated ball valves engineered to withstand and exceed high temperature applications, with specific constructions and duly selected materials also suitable for geothermal applications.
Especially where the direct use of steam, hot water, with abrasive and highly corrosive chemicals and minerals could foul, erode, and damage standard equipment.
Offering unique features that make them an excellent choice for hot water (geothermal brine) and similar services from high temperature ball valve metal seated.
This application can exist in combination with other service conditions.
Including corrosive & dirty applications with toxic substances, flammable liquids (LNG, LPG or NGL condensate) or generic hydrocarbon gas in high pressure or cryogenic applications. Especially in metal seated for the high temperature severe service.

Features and Benefits

The RAYS type high-temperature metal-seated ball valve is well suited for a variety of demanding services where high-temperature and abrasive solids are present.

a) Unique, the metal seated high temperature ball valve with patented single-seat ball valve design. It has a flat spring set acting through a hard-faced bearing against the bottom ball shaft which provides sufficient initial ball-seat load for valve tightness, even at low delta P.

b) The metal seated high temperature ball valve design provides freedom for thermal expansion of the ball without jamming, even at extremely high temperatures.

c) RAYS metal seated ball valve proven in qualification tests and field operation to be solids–proof, even for the toughest applications on slurry service with solids particles.

d) Tightness rates: Allowable leakage rate at full Delta P: ASME/ FCI 70-2 Class VI/V. Tighter shutoff available upon request.
RAYS high temperature ball valve metal seated leakage rate also can be customization from end-user request

e) The high temperature ball valve metal seated with standard extension bonnet/stem, whose design base on the different temperature range.

Ball Valve in Design Temperature 121°-200°C (249,8°-392°F)

RAYS Ball valves for this temperature range can have soft seated construction with thermoplastic inserts (Devlon V, Nylon, RPTFE, PEEK) and elastomer seals O-ring (FKM, FFKM, HNBR, EPDM, FEPM).
Material construction does not require any particular care: carbon steel and stainless steel bodies and closures are acceptable, if suitable to other service conditions and pressure ratings.
To prevent galling of the substrate, the PMSS (Primary Metal Secondary Soft) is a possible construction. It is provided by ENP or metal seated coating on the ball to maintain a differential hardness between the ball itself and the seat ring.

Ball Valve in Design Temperature 201°-350°C (393,8°-662°F)

RAYS Metal Seated Ball valves for this high temperature range should have metal seated construction with Tungsten or Chrome Carbide coating (from 150µm to 400µm) on the ball and seats sealing surfaces with graphite packing and suitable stem extension.
The use of thermoplastic and elastomer compounds like PEEK and FFKM should be limited to the temperature below 250°C and low pressures.
Carbon steel and stainless steel materials, specific for high temperature conditions, should be selected for pressure containing and controlling parts;
In case of combination with other service conditions like high pressure and corrosive & dirty applications, the materials with good strength properties are recommended, like 17-4PH and XM19. In some cases, Inconel 625 and 718 are used for ball, seat rings and stem.
RAYS can provide the Tungsten Carbide coating no less than 1200HV hardness which is our standard request for high temperature metal seated ball valve.
Witness sample of the metal seated ball valve’s ball and seat with Tungsten Carbide coating can be provided for inspection of the coating quality.

Ball Valve in Design Temperature 351°-550°C (663,8°-1022°F)

RAYS Metal Seated Ball valves for this high temperature range must have metal seated construction with Chrome Carbide coating (from 150µm to 400µm) or Stellite coating on ball and seats sealing surfaces with graphite packing and suitable stem extension.
The difference between the hardness of the seat and the ball is necessary to avoid galling.
Stainless steel (specific for high temperature conditions) for body and closures and Inconel 625 or Inconel 718 as trim or at least as stem material are strictly recommended for suitable valve construction.

RAYS can provide the Stellite coating with no less than 37HRC ~ 47HRC hardness which is our standard request for high temperature metal seated ball valve.
Witness sample of the metal seated ball valve’s ball and seat with Stellite coating can be provided for inspection of the coating quality.
